Bill 2007Writing about myself is not something I like to do but here it is anyhow:

My name is William F. Hill, Jr. but most of my friends call me Bill. I am married (almost 19 years now) with three beautiful children (18, 16, 14). We are currently members of Calvary Reformed Presbyterian Church in Hampton, Virginia.

I was born and raised in Rochester, New York and am the oldest of two children. My brother is a City of Rochester Police Officer. I was raised in a Christian home and, for the balance of my life, attended Independant Baptist churches which led to a dispensational understanding of the Scriptures for many years. When I was 8 years of age I said the "sinners prayer" and somehow thought that it magically saved me but the actions of the vast majority of my life after that point was everything but godly.

When I was in the third grade my parents moved us to Wakeshua, Wisconsin to attend New Tribes Bible Institute. My father desired to be a preacher but those plans all changed one day when they both felt called to work in Missions in Senegal, West Africa. We then moved to Durham, Ontario, Canada to complete the Missions training. My parents left training and returned to Rochester when I was in the 6th grade.

As a teenager I led a rebellious lifestyle, and by my actions demonstrated that I had little or no desire for matters pertaining to the Bible and obedience to Christ.

After graduating from High School I joined the United States Army for six months. I left the military and returned to living with my parents for a period of about one year. As a result of my continued rebellion towards any and all authority I was asked to leave my parents home (well, "thrown out" is probably more accurate) and lived in a one room apartment holding down a very important job of "grill master" at the local McDonalds in the inner-city of Rochester. My life was a mess.

At the age of 19 and in no small part to the clearest workings of God, I met my future wife. She was raised in a small town 45 minutes from Rochester. Needless to say this small town was not ready for a rebellious, city bred young man and I encountered much frustration as I moved to this small town to be near my soon to be wife. 10 months after meeting my wife we had our first child and that single event changed the course of my life forever. I realized my sin. I understood that I was in grave danger of hell and repented of my lifestyle and grabbed hold of Christ. By His grace I have never looked back. This is not to say that there have not been difficulties along the way but God has been very kind to me and has given me a wonderful wife and three children. My love for God and my family means everything to me.

My wife was raised a devout Roman Catholic and I could see that we were heading towards marriage even at the very beginning of our relationship. I remember that two weeks after we met I announced to my wife that we would be married, (if my wife is reading this she is smiling right now). She thought I was rather brash and bold to make such a statement but obviously I was right. :) Since I had not yet apostasized to the point of denying the truths of the bible, at least factually, I was quite concerned that I would end up marrying an "unbeliever" so I began to share the Gospel with her. Imagine that! I was not living anything close to what the Scriptures called me to be doing yet I was sharing the gospel with her. Fact is, she was probably behaving more "Christian" then I was although she was attending a Roman Church. Quite a paradox to be sure. :) She trusted Christ some time later and left the Roman Catholic Church forever. We were married 2 years after we met by a small town Justice of the Peace in a machine shop on Route 19 outside LeRoy, New York. My parents, along with my brother, were the only attendees.

We moved to Rochester shortly after that where I worked multiple jobs to keep food on the table. Life was quite a struggle for our young family. Yet, God was gracious and sustained us when all seemed dark and hopeless. By God's grace we were given two more children (Jennifer and Bryan) before I turned 25. We continued to attend Baptistic style churches until the day God convinced my of the beauty that is the Reformed Faith. I still remember the day I completed R.C. Sproul's book "Chosen by God". I will never forget the tears of joy that I shed when I realized the beauty of God's election in my life.

In 1998 we moved to Norfolk, Virginia and have been here ever since. We are thankful to finally be out of the snow and cold and are sometimes amazed when it actually does snow here. It reminds us of home.

Currently I work as an Assistant Store Manager for Food Lion, LLC and also co-host the internet radio program called Covenant Radio.

My future plans include seminary training for the Gospel ministry. Even though I am rapidly approaching the age of 42 I still have a strong, irresistable desire to serve God in this capacity. I am trusting and praying that this is also God's desire for me.

Looking back over the 39 years of my life I can clearly see the hand of God working for me even when I was rebelling in my heart and actions towards Him. He has been so patient and kind even when I was so vile and full of anger. He is a great God and I desire to seek Him with all of my heart.
