Outer Banks

Thanks to my wife who cleans the three cottages owned by my Pastor (Calvary Reformed Presbyterian Church, PCA) we are currently enjoying a nice relaxing weekend at the Outer Banks as payment for her labors. I have looked forward to this get away for quite some time. The area is beautiful and we are staying two blocks from the ocean. This morning my wife and I along with our daughter and a friend got up and walked to the oceanfront to see the sun crest the horizon. It was quite a beautiful sight. It reminded me of the following passage:

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. Their measuring line goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy. Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them, and there is nothing hidden from its heat. (Psalm 19.1-6, ESV)

There is something about the beauty of God's creation and witnessing it in all its splendor that makes me think of Him and Who He is. It is as though we get a small glimpse into the wonderful and marvelous character of our triune God when we see what He has created, even if we only see it dimly. What a glorious privilege it is to see what God has created and how sad that so many people do not acknowledge the Creator when witnessing creation. May God's people slow down enough, even today, to see what God has created and stand in awe of Him who created all things for His glory. Amen.
