What's Wrong?

A commenter from another blog says:

Ideally, a person should be able to walk into any PCA church and expect the teaching and preaching of the Word of God to be in accordance with the WCF. Sadly and tragically, that is not the case.

Ya, we wouldn't want the teaching and preaching to be in accordance with the Bible...

You know it is simply not the same thing, regardless of what people say, to argue that if my teaching is in accordance with the WCF that it is also in accordance with the Scriptures. Let's consider a few cases:

1. Eschatology -- the WCF is historical in its approach to eschatology. However, I am certain there are many pastors in Reformed churches that would not agree with this.

2. Regulative Principle -- the WCF is (arguably) regulative in its approach to worship.

3. Theonomy -- The WCF is theonomic in its approach to the law. Even most opponents of theonomy would argue that.

4. Sabbath day -- the WCF is very restrictive in its view of the Sabbath but many ordained ruling and teaching elders take an exception on this point.

5. Creation -- the WCF arguably takes a 6-day position on creation. This continues to be a problem for some ordained ministers in Reformed churches.

Friends, the WCF is not Scripture (ya, you knew that already right?). We may not say that out loud but some people out there believe that it is equal to Scripture, regardless of what they say.
