Buhari Appoints Former Governor Ebri Chair, National Biotechnology Agency.

<p>President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed a former governor of Cross River State, Chief Clement Ebri as Chairman, National Biotechnology Development Agency, NABDA.</p>

<p>Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Ogbonnaya Orji made the announcement in Abuja during the inauguration of the governing boards and councils of agencies and institutes.</p>

<p>The appointment is part of the 139 persons appointed into 12 agencies under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI).</p>

<p>According to the Minister, the appointments were made to enable them make contributions to the development of the country.</p>

<p>Born on 11 December 1952, Chief Ebri who hails from Mkpani in Yakurr LGA of the State was elected governor of Cross River State under the platform of National Republican Convention, NRC between January 1992 and November 1993, during the third republic before that administration was short-lived by the General Sani Abacha military coup.</p>

<p>He went on to become the National Chairman, Progressive Peoples Alliance, before pitching his political tent with the All Progressives Congress.</p>

<p>The National Biotechnology Development Agency was established by the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo in November 2001 due to the successes of the National Biotechnology Policy.</p>
