C’River State Online Journalists Celebrates World Press Day

In celebration of the World Press Freedom Day 2023, the Association of Cross River Online Journalists ACROJ has expressed gratitude to journalists for unwavering commitment to upholding the principles of journalism and promoting freedom of expression.
The association also acknowledged the tremendous contributions render by journalists in shaping a future of rights and upholding the principles of freedom of expression.
In a statement signed by its chairman, Edem Darlington, noted that this year’s theme is “Shaping a Future of Rights: Freedom of Expression as a Driver for all other human rights,” highlights the essential role that online journalists play in promoting and protecting human rights.
Darlington recognized the challenges faced by journalists in the discharge of their duties as online journalists in state, especially in light of the just concluded general elections.
While noting that the past year has been particularly difficult, with the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic which created numerous obstacles, he stated that despite these challenges, journalists have remained committed to their work and dedication to providing accurate and reliable information.
The ACROJ chairman assured that the association will support journalists, and we will continue to advocate for rights as journalists.
He also urged journalists to continue to be a voice of truth and accuracy in a world that often tries to silence them.
