A large number of women including local bread producers popularly known as “Guarasa”, today took over the streets of Kano, protesting over the high cost of living, especially the hike in the price of flour used for the production of bread and other edibles.
The women who were also accompanied by children kept chanting Everything is very expensive, especially flour and Tinubu should come to our aid, most of us are widows who cannot feed our families and people are dying of hunger in the country.
The leader of the group Mrs.Ajia Fatima narrated the effect of high inflation on them which is making it tougher for people to make ends meet, as their protest is a medium of demanding for a better living condition for the people from Government. she complained that flour which was sold to them at the sum of 16,000 naira is now 43,000 naira which is absurd and becoming unaffordable for the common man leading to the closure of many businesses and suffering by families.
The women who were relentless in their protest said Government have to regulate the prices of commodities in the market to favour the common man, as Government inability to do so would lead to more suffering and death in the Nation.
