The Association Of Cross River Online Journalists ACROJ yesterday paid a condolence visit to the family of veteran Journalist and renowned administrator, late Elder Oqua Itu at the family residence in Calabar.
Chairman of ACROJ, Edem Darlington who led other members of the association during the visit, expressed shock over the death of the respected media icon and one time chairman, transition committee of Calabar municipal council.
According to Darlington “ the association received t news of the passing away of Elder Oqua Itu with rude shock and disbelief. This is a man who has impacted positively the life of many Journalists in the state and even beyond.
“ It will be difficult to fill the gap he has left behind. We are saddened at his death but we believe that God knows best. We urge the family to be comforted that he lived a fulfilled life worthy of emulation”
Responding, son of deceased, Charles Itu, expressed appreciation to the leadership of ACROJ for the visit, saying the association’s visit was a unique one.
“We have had so many people come here during the first few weeks when our father passed away. But I think yours is unique, in terms of the timing. I want to thank you for considering it worthy to visit us at this time of our grief and we pray that God will bless you all”
Charles who said he had a wonderful relationship with his father as a young boy, assured that the association will be fully informed when the funeral programs has been released by the family.
