Agba Jalingo, a publisher of Cross River Watch, has been released by the Nigerian Police Force, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, command.
Jalingo’s lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, said in a statement yesterday that he was released at about 10pm on Saturday following a request made to the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Babaji Sunday.
Jalingo who was arrested at his residence in Lagos State on Friday following a petition from Mrs. Elizabeth Alami Ayade, for alleged defamation and infringement of her integrity.
Falana in a statement said that “upon the arrival of Agba Jalingo at Abuja on Saturday, he was dumped at the Abattoir detention camp where he was held incommunicado.
“We immediately contacted the Commissioner of Police of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Mr. Babaji Sunday to request for his unconditional release from police custody.”
