The Most Rev. Dr. Christian Ekong, National President/Archbishop of the Lutheran Church of Nigeria has urged the Federal Government to tackle hunger and insecurity for its citizens in the country.

The Archbishop made the plea on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at his 30th Marriage Anniversary thanksgiving service held at the LCN Aka, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Archbishop Ekong stated that he has pity for the nation Nigeria because hunger is there and it will continue if the federal government is not conscious about insecurity of lives and property in Nigeria.

“It is sad that people cannot really be in their farms to get enough food for the teeming population of our nation and quite worrisome is how our security agencies cannot combat insecurity caused by herders.

“While we pray as a family and as a church, we urged the President to rise up and tackle the issue of hunger in Nigeria.”

The National President who also expressed gratitude to God for what He has done this last 30 years of his marriage, he said that “It is not nothing but a work in progress.”

He added that “we have seen hunger, satisfaction, desertion and solidarity, but we thank God that He has never forsaken us.”

He further thank God for the peace enjoyed in Akwa Ibom  through the leadership of Governor Umo Eno and his people’s programs.

He urged the governor to ensure that industrialization is achieved in the state to help transform the raw materials into tangible goods.
