C’River: INEC releases schedule for re-run election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Cross River State has announced Saturday, February 3, 2024 as date for the re-run election in 34 Polling Units across Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency, Obanliku and Yala lI State Constituencies in Cross River State.

In a press release signed by Anthonia Nwobi, Director, Voter Education and Publicity of INEC, Cross River and dated January 13, 2024, explained that the re-run is in line with the court order. 

The affected polling units are: 1. АКАМКРА (P/G OSUMBA, P/G IKO ESAI |, P/G IKU, P/SEKONG ANAKU, P/G EKONG ANAKU,  P/S OJOR CAMP, P/G OKOPEDI P/GAKWA IBAMI)

2.  BIASE (P/G ABARIBARA I,    P/G ABARBARAII, P/G EMOUNO, MK SQ ITU AGWAGUNE, P/S AKARAVUNI, BUS STOP AKPET CENTRAL, TOWN HALLIMIENYO, V/SQ EHOM, PCN P/S EVIA COMM ЕНОМ, V/SQ UMUOLOR,  P/SIBINI)

3.  OBANLIKU (P/G BAYAGA, P/G BEBUENKANYAN)

4.  YALA ( P/S WANUDU I, P/G ELU IJIKOM, MK SQ OKPODAN, P/S AKUMENYI, P/S OGOMOGOMO, P/G OKPINYA, P/G ALLU I, P/G IDUM, H/C UZAGA, P/S BITOL, RIGHT SIDE OF IDUM STREET, P/G IBILA, TOWN HALL OKPODAN)

The statement reads “Please note that only voters with Permanent Voters Card and are registered in the affected Polling Units are qualified to vote in this Election.”

“Also, BVAS will be deployed for accreditation and voting.

The Election will start from 8.30am and end by 2.30pm. However, those on the queue on or before 2.30pm will be attended to.

“Meanwhile all participating Political Parties should commence their campaigns from January 5, and must end February 1st 2024 according to the law.”
