Senator Eteng Jonah Williams representing Cross River Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly has distributed educational materials to over 40 schools in central senatorial districts of the state in continuation of his empowerment programme.
Eteng, said that the programme was part of his educational support program initiative and also as a measure to support Governor Bassey Otu’s desire to upscale the standard of education in Cross River.
The Senator who was represented by Ayiba Ojong Ayiba, former chairman of Ikom local government area, said that the materials will be distributed to various secondary and primary schools in Abi, Yakurr, and Obubra, Ikom, Etung and Boki council areas.
He emphasized the importance of education and said that he remained committed to advancing education needs of members of his constituents at all levels.
According to the Senator, “One can never do too much to support the educational growth of his constituents and again, we can’t do it all at once.
“We have kick-started the process with this distribution and we will continue with the support from now on. Over 40 schools are involved in this phase. I know how this support will help the indigent students and also support the Governor’s quest to reposition the sector in the state.”
He thereby charged the pupils and students to make good use of the materials.
Some of the beneficiary schools include: Bahamono Secondary Grammar School, Ebom, Abi; PCN Ekureku, Abi; Community Primary School, Itigidi, Abi and Primary School, Agoi Ibami, Yakurr.
Others are Secondary School Mkpani, Yakurr; Community Secondary School Ugep, Yakurr; Community Secondary School Apiapum, Obubra; St. Patrick Primary School, Iyamoyong, Obubra; and Community Primary School Ofumbongha No 1, Obubra among others.
