Former presidential adviser on National Assembly matters, Sen. Florence Ita-Giwa has urged southern political stakeholders in the state to allow governor Bassey Otu govern and fulfill the promises he made to his people, having seen a visible difference in just one and half year in office.
Sen. Ita-Giwa made the call in a statement made available to the press in Calabar on Thursday and personally signed by her . The former presidential legislative aide stated that “as a mother and as one of the senior political stakeholders-if not the most senior alive in terms of ranking-having served as the first Deputy Minority Leader in the Senate in my time and having contested and won four elections. I speak from experience.
“Many seem to have forgotten the fierce battle we fought to ensure the return of power to the South in 2023. It was never handed to us on a platter of gold-it was a hard-fought victory that tested our resilience. Some doubted it could happen, but with God on our side and the total commitment of our brothers and sisters from the North and Central, we prevailed. Now, we must protect what we struggled to achieve and continue to enjoy this Season of sweetness”.
She further emphasized that Governor Otu is the leader of the state and a father of all, regardless of where one serve and it is the duty of all to respect and support his administration. Urging for an effective collaboration between the lawmakers and the state executive for a success governance.
On the back to south agenda, Sen. Ita-Giwa said that it is 8 years project for Govnor Otu and not 4 years speculated in some quarters as there are visible results, unprecedented growth and prosperity to Cross River.
