C’River: Sports Commissioner Inaugurate LOC For Prince Otu Cup 2024

The commissioner for sports development in Cross River State, Hon. Agnes Atsu has refferd to sports as business in Cross River State, prioritized football as king of sports that when invested on would be a good and productive business for the state.

The commissioner made the remarks while inaugurating the local organizing committee of Prince Otu Cup 2024, where she appreciated the Senator representing central senatorial district of Cross River State, Sen. Eteng Williams for sponsoring the sporting event that is meant to hold in public schools around the 18 local Government area’s of the state. She Further, charged members of the committee to work selflessly and be innovate in ideas that would make the event impactful, creative and value oriented for the State.

In his speech, the special adviser on sports development to the Governor, Hon. Ekanem Ekpenyong stated that, the easiest way to develop football is going back to the grassroots to seek for talents, and the event which is set to commence from 16th Sept to 15th November 2024 would help the state to discover talented young players. He appreciated the sponsor of the event, Senator Eteng Williams for supporting a program that extends to develop youths of other constituencies outside of his.

The representative of Senator Eteng Williams, Hon. Ayuba Ayuba described Sen.Eteng Williams as a lover of Sports who has decided to use sports in supporting the Governor to attain more development milage in the state.

The Secretary of the LOC, Hon. Sunny Ude who spoke onbehalf of the members assured the commissioner of his colleagues experience and capacity to deliver to the satisfaction of the sponsor and the State Government.

Dignitaries present at the inauguration ceremony were Hon. Agnes Atsu-CRS Sports Commissioner, Hon. Ekanem Ekpenyong- SA on Sports development to the Governor, Mr.Samuel Egbala-Permanent secretary ministry of sports development, Comr. Dan Obo-SA youth mobilization to the Governor, management staff of ministry of sports development and members of the LOC.
