In her thorough determination to support the Governor, His Excellency Sen.(Prince) Bassey Otu grow the sports sector of Cross River State through the organizing of different sporting competitions, the commissioner for sports development, Hon. Agnes Atsu did the official kick off ceremony of the International skating competition ” SKate A Thon 2024″ on Saturday, 1st June, 2024, at the cultural center complex in Calabar.

The competition commenced with two competing teams of physically challenged men who played a thirty minutes game, officiated by staff of the ministry of sports development and superintended on by the Honorable commissioner for sports development, Mrs. Agnes Atsu.

The commissioner who was represented by the special adviser to the Governor on sports development, Hon. Ekanem Ekpenyong expressed contentment on the manner at which the players performed at the opening stage of the competition.He encouraged the players to be steadfast in sporting activities and also improve on their skills, as the Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Sen.Prince Bassey Otu in his interest to develop sports in the state has created opportunities for inclusivity which they are now part of. assured them of Government support to their well being and charged them to engage only in activities that will bring about their individual development and also that of the State.

The special adviser offered the competitors snacks, drinks, and cash, while he encouraged them to keep fit and ready for the next day of play and grand finale of the competition.
