The Director-General, Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Janet Ekenyong who applauded the kind gesture of the groups however, acknowledged that the decision to choose Ikot Omin community was because the level of acceptance and reception of the people of the community to health related issues.
According to her, “Health is wealth, the Primary Healthcare Centre, Ikot Omin always record deliveries in the facility because we have a strong team in the community. They don’t just wait for women to come to the facility, but they actually go on home services or community sensitization and education.
“And because of that, we keep having women, mothers or pregnant women coming into the healthcare facility for Antenatal Care (ANC), as well as delivery because of the great work they have been doing in the community.”
In her remarks, one of the pioneer founders of VIFADAD Medical Mission, Mrs. Beatrice Imeobong noted that the reason behind the free medical outreach in Calabar was to continue the vision of her late father to make people conscious of their health as well as make them access free medical services.
According to her “We have a branch in Akwa Ibom State and Calabar. The mission started December 20, 2020, which was initially a family get-together. We hope that over time, we will have branches in other states.” She said.
Also Speaking, founder, PRETTYEASY OPULENCE Ltd and co-organizer of the medical outreach, Mrs. Rosemary Otudor stated that the day was set aside to collect people from different parts of Ikot Omin, to help the less privileged in remembrance of their late father.
