A new Executive Council of Association of Cross River Online Journalists, ACROJ has been inaugurated in Calabar.
The inauguration follows an earlier election held last week friday, which saw Edem Darlington reelected for a second term of two years. Others elected were Gloria Umo as Secretary General, Jonathan Ugbal, Deputy Secretary General and Patrick Obia as Financial Secretary.
The association is an umbrella body of all practicing online journalists in the State.
At the inauguration which took place at the association’s secretariat in Calabar, the chairman, Edem Darlington called on members to maintain the highest level of professionalism by upholding the ethics of the profession.
“We have been intimidated, arrested and even imprisoned, but at every point, we have become bolder and more courageous.
“We will continue to defend every member of this association from the intimidation of those in government and outside who do not what the truth to prevail.
“We once again call on the governor, Ben Ayade to live up to his word by quickly ensuring the arrested of those carrying out illegal logging and depletion of our forest”
The new executive is expected to run a tenure of two years.
