Ekoh-Yeyiyi Commemorate Anti Drugs Day, Campaign Against Drug Abuse In yakurr LGA

A socio-cultural Organization in Ekori yakurr local Government area, “Ekoh-yeyiyi” has commemorated the international day against Drug abuse, “Anti Drugs Day” on Wednesday 26th June, 2023.

Activities embarked on to commemorate the day were intensive campaigns along the streets of Ekori community, preaching and educating young people of the dangers associated with intake of psychoactive and illegal drugs and the need to abstain from them.

Furthermore, were workshops held in Public Secondary schools to educate students on the perilous effect of consuming hard drugs and the jeopardy it can cause to their future and families. 

Beneficiary schools of the workshop includes; Comprehensive Secondary school, Eko Inika Technical College, Migrant science and Technical College, all in Ekori yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State.

Members of the organization from the health sector who were resource persons at the workshop outlined the pernicious impact of drug abuse that have lead to loss of lives, destroyed families and even communities. Said the awareness campaign is poised to kill the habit of illicit drug consumption among young people and also help drug addicts to battle out of addiction.

Stated that drug abuse isn’t just a personal battle but a societal challenge that requires collective action to be eradicated in the lives of young people through adequate education and prevention.

Ekoh-Yeyiyi expressed gratitude to principals, Teachers, Students and the schools management for their warmth reception and active participation  in the workshop, encouraged them to inculcate healthy habits on their students and continue to counsel them against intake of hard drugs.
