The member representing Odukpani state constituency in the Cross River State house of assembly, Hon Francis Asuquo has sued for peace in Odukpani LGA.
The lawmaker was speaking at the sideline of the mega rally organized by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, Odukpani chapter.
He expressed optimism that with the election of local government chairmen and councilors, the persistent communal conflict that has become very common in the LGA has been handled.
According to him, “since the local government is the government that is closer to the people. You have seen that most of those issues no longer happen. Because there is constant meetings and interaction with neighboring states and local governments involved towards having a lasting peace in Cross River State”
On the fortunes of his party, the APC in Cross River State, he said, “it is a thing of joy just as the theme of the rally is. Unity means coming together to remain stronger. We are following our leader, governor Ben Ayade to socket to the center for the over all good of the local government area and of the state”
On whether the PDP poses any threat to the APC as the nation prepares for the 2023 general elections, the lawmaker said ” just wait and see when the elections comes. Where will the PDP get the number. Politics is a game of numbers, and for now, all the people that matter in the political landscape of Odukpani are here. They are in APC, so PDP is no where, but the elections will tell the rest of the story”
On the deplorable state of the Calabar-Itu road, the lawmaker expressed hope that more approvals will be given for the release of funds towards the completion of the project.
“As you know, even before we moved to the centre, Julius Berger had already started work at Odukpani junction. For now, they are doing 4.2km, So it’s a gradual process”
He called on support to the Ben Ayade led administration by all Cross Riverians to enable the state witness the devidens of the big vision of the governor.
The Odukpani unity rally was witnessed by a mammoth crowd with thousands of PDP members who openly defected to the APC.
