Some friends and associates of the former lawmaker who represented Cross River Southern Senatorial District, Sen. Prince Bassey Otu have concluded plans to celebrate the distinguished senator.
Senator Otu who is widely loved by many across the state and beyond, will be a year older on Monday 18 October. He served in the 7th Senate, a tenure many believed was the best representation ever.
A release signed by it’s Chairman Barr. Emmanuel Ironbar and Secretary Barr Ekpenyong Akiba says the event which is to mark the birthday of the distinguished senator is planned to celebrate the extraordinary and exemplary leadership spirit of Sen. Otu who has positively touched the lives of his constituents.
Known as Friends of Prince Otu, the group says the event which is usually a yearly activity will this year take place at the Bible Christian Crusaders Mission, 55 Webber street on Sunday 17 October 2021 by 9am, while a visit to the Infant Jesus Orphanage home at No 4 Bateba Street, Calabar will take place at 2pm, followed thereafter by a reception at the Calabar residence of the senator.
According to Barr. Ekpenyong Akiba the group which previously held similar event at the Apostolic Church, Catholic Church, Voice of God Christian Mission, this year decided to celebrate and thank God for the life of the former lawmaker at BCCM.
He said the group decided to embark on the plan without the knowledge of Senator Otu, not only because he distinguished himself in public service, but also for representing a symbol of hope for many of his constituents, Cross Riverians and Nigerians in general.
He called on all friends, associates and good people of the state to come out and join in thanking God for the life of Senator Otu on the occasion of his birthday celebration.
