It was a carnival or some sort on Easter Monday when women across the state came out in thier numbers to march in support of former lawmaker, Sen. Prince Bassey Otu.

The women numbering several hundreds gathered at the millennium park, from where they took off and marched through major streets in Calabar, singing and dancing, while calling on the former lawmaker to declare his intension to run for the position of governor of the state.

The solidarity rally which had women from different groups including, market women, women from the Christian and Muslim communities and other professional bodies described Sen. Otu as the only aspirant that can give the rulling APC victory in the 2023 elections.

One of the women, Aisha Sule, who spoke with our reporter said,
“Prince Otu will be an easily marketable candidate for APC. He is perhaps the only person that the opposition in the state are afraid of. Infact, many of them are even praying that he doesn’t emerge as the candidate of the party so that it will be an easy ride for them. If he emerge as candidate of APC, I bet you, there are several members of the PDP and other parties that will vote for him.
“we need a candidate that is experienced, matured, loved and acceptable by all Cross Riverians so it will be easy to win election come 2023”

Sen. Prince Otu is widely loved by Cross Riverians and is known to enjoy political support across party lines in the state.
Last week, over 50 political support groups, in an elaborate event, called on him to declare his intention to run for the office of governor.

A strong supporter of governor Ben Ayade, who has severally called on Cross Riverians to support the governor to finish strong, the former lawmaker is however, yet to make his intention public.
