The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (Jamb) on Monday, announced it has cancelled the planned aptitude tests for 2024 Direct Entry candidates.

The Examination Board who made this disclosure in a post on its official X handle said instead of the aptitude test, other criteria will be considered for Direct Entry admissions.

“Attention 2024 DE Candidates! This is to inform you that the Board has shelved the conduct of aptitude test for the year, other placement criteria shall be considered for your admission while adequate preparation goes into the exercise ahead of next year,” JAMB said.

It could be recalled that Jamb in December, 2023 announced that candidates for its Direct Entry examination would from 2024 undertake cognitive and verbal reasoning tests.

The Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, had said that the exams is to test and assess candidates academic potential or career suitability, as well as their mental or physical capacity.

JAMB boss noted that “It is an intelligent test that will measure the candidate’s current cognitive skills and will not be the usual subjects such as Mathematics, Chemistry, Government, Physics, etc.”
