Leadership of Student Union Government in the University of Cross River State UNICROSS, yesterday presented an award of honour to Senator Prince Bassey Otu in Calabar.
President of the Student Union in the university, Comrade Effiom Samuel, said the decision to honour the former lawmaker was taken “after a careful examination of your contribution to the growth and advancement of this great institution since it’s inception in 2002”
Sen. Bassey Otu was represented at the event by a former President of the Student Union Government of the University of Calabar Unical Kelvin Enyam.
According to the student union leadership, Sen. Otu, during the 7th senate, facilitated the building of the University’s administration block, funded by the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN, with Prof. Eneobong Eneobong then as Vice Chancellor of the university.
They admonished other political office holders especially those in the national assembly to emulate the sterling and quality representation of Sen. Otu when he was in the red chambers, by providing platforms where young people can leverage on, to develop themselves and the institution as well.
The event which was held at the event center in Calabar municipal council, was witnessed by a mammoth crowd who came out in their numbers to show support and admiration to the distinguished senator whom many describe as ‘Sweet Prince’.
