NPFL: Rivers United starts new season with a win as match-day one records Four away wins

The Nigerian Premier Football League match-day one was concluded yesterday at various centers with Champions, Rivers United defeating Lobi Stars 2-1 in Port Harcourt to begin their title defense.
Group A, had thriller encounters of the weekend with Enyimba wining 2-1 away to Nasarawa United on Saturday, while Sunday games saw Plateau United and 3SC in Jos ended in a 3-3 draw.
Remo Stars was the better side as goals from Samuel Anakwe and Edidiong Ezekiel was enough to seal 2-0 victory over visiting El-Kanemi Warriors.
Kwara United at home played out a goalless draw with Gombe United.
Group B games saw Bayelsa United and Dakkada FC played out 1-1 draw at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa.
Abia Warriors had a 2-0 victory over Enugu Rangers in an Oriental derby, while Niger Tornadoes secured a 2-0 win over Wikki Tourists.
Sunshine Stars of Akure at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe secure a 1-1 draw against Doma United.
Matchday two will be held on Wednesday and Thursday across 10 centres.
