The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has made it mandatory for all prospective corps members to register with their National Identification Numbers (NIN).
The scheme said the NIN would be used to mobilise corps members for this year’s service.
It insisted that prospective corps members without the number would not be mobilised for national service.
This was one of the deliberations during the meeting of NYSC Management led by the Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed with the Management of the National Identification Management Commission (NIMC) led by its Director General, Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote in Abuja on Wednesday.
In a statement by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, the NYSC said: “Starting from 2024 mobilisation, all the eligible prospective corps members are expected to register for mobilisation with their National Identification Numbers (NIN).
Ahmed added that the NYSC Integrated system that was introduced in 2014 has tremendously assisted the Scheme in its mobilization process, but the NYSC Director General called for improvement.
Speaking during the visit, the Director General of NIMC, Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote promised the readiness of the commission for the collaboration between the two agencies.
“The synergy will simplify the entire mobilization process and also address multiple issues,” the NIMC boss said.
