The only female aspirant in the People’s Democratic Party governorship election in Cross River State, Amb. Nkoyo Toyo has debunked rumour that she has withdrawn from the gubernatorial race.
Amb. Toyo spoke with The Parchment moments ago ago via telephone interview, insisting that she is still very much in the race.
“The rumour that I am no longer in the race is false. I have not and I will not withdraw. I am very much in the race and I will be contest till the very end” she said.
The former Nigerian ambassador said it was necessary to inform her teeming supporters to calm their nerves.
News that the former diplomat had filtered in early Thursday morning, as the major opposition party prepares to conduct their party primaries in the state.
The election earlier scheduled for yesterday Wednesday, was later moved to Thursday.
About 7 aspirants will be squaring up to grab the party ticket today, including two serving senators, Gershom Bassey and Sandy Onor.
