Princess Florence Ita Giwa has visited the Palace of the Obong of Calabar, His Eminence, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V, to pay homage to the revered King of Efik kingdom.
Princess Giwa who also holds the traditional title Eka Iban Ke Essien Efik Duopeba, was accompanied by other notable women, including the Commissioner for commerce, Mrs Rosemary Archibong, former Chief Whip in the state house of assembly, Hon. Uduak Akiba Eboh among others, She used the opportunity to thank the King for his fatherly role in the affairs of the kingdom and prayed for continuous prosperity of the Efik Kingdom.
The former presidential aide and lawmaker who presented items including several bags of rice, assorted drinks, a cow and cash gifts, thanked the kingdom for the show of love towards her and the women folks over the years.
She used the opportunity to call on the traditional leaders to engage Cross Riverians from other senatorial districts to allow the understanding that has existed in terms of political rotation of power, in particular the office of governor to prevail, in other not to disturb the peace and unity that the state has enjoyed for a long time now.
Responding, Etubom Bob Duke appreciated Senator Ita Giwa for her love and respect to the kingdom and her people. According to him “although we in this palace had been on our annual recess, but when we heard that you were the one that wanted to see us, we had no option but to gather together to meet with you. That is the level of respect and love we have for you and your women in this palace” he said.
