Protest: 3 Unicross students die in auto crash

Three students of the University of Cross River State, UNICROSS have died in an auto crash while travelling to their homes from school following the two weeks closure over nationwide protest.

The accident occurred near Ikom in the central part of the state on the Calabar-Ikom highway while the student were on their way to Ogoja in the northern part of the state, yesterday, afternoon.

A source, Ndoma Akunobor, who was an occupant of the bus said the three students, who lost their lives were from the Departments of Microbiology and Plants Science and Biotechnology.

The names of the students could not be ascertained at press time.

The Parchment had reported earlier that the management announced closure of the institution for two weeks in-view of the planned nationwide protest being organized by some Civil Society Organizations and others in the country effective August 01, 2024 to ensure the safety of the lives of Students.
