Protest: C’River Police urges residents to continue lawful activities without fear

The Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, CP Grimah, PSC, FCAI has urged all residents to continue their lawful activities without any fear and to disregard any malicious, misleading, and unfounded information circulating for personal gain.

The State CP who emphasized the importance of security consciousness among the public, encouraged the report of any suspicious activities or unfamiliar individuals in their areas to the Police or other security agencies for prompt response.

In press release signed by SP Ugbo Irene, Police Public Relations Officer, today, August 2, 2024, the CP extends his heartfelt appreciation to the residents of the State for their peaceful and lawful conduct during the recent “End Bad Government” protest, despite the perceived threats of violence.

“CP Grimah, on behalf of the Nigeria Police Force, Cross River State Command, acknowledges and commends the collective efforts and cooperation of Cross Riverians, traditional and religious institutions, hoteliers, market associations, transport unions, youth groups, student unions, the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), corporate bodies, other security agencies, media houses, the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), and the dedicated police personnel of the command. The synergy and unwavering support recorded thus far are highly appreciated.

“Special recognition is given to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun PhD NPM, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 6 Headquarters, Calabar, AIG Jonathan Towuru mni, and His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, for their exceptional support and advisory roles at various levels.

“In line with the principles of Equity, Fairness, and Justice, especially in the context of 21st-century policing practices, the Command remains resolute in its commitment to proactively discharge its functions.
