School Principal Seeks Intervention From Public Over Inability To Pay WAEC Penalties. Says Future Of Students At Stake.

Principal of Odot Ediong Secondary Commercial School, Odot in Odukpani LGA, Mrs. Magdalene Iso has called on the public to intervene in paying Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira as penalities they incured from the West African Examination Council, so as to allow students from the school write the West African regional examination this year.

The school was among several other schools across the country, suspended two years ago for examination malpractices and fined, Seven Hundred Thousand Naira.

The school Principal lamented that she has been able to raise half of the money, which is N350k and she is now hoping to get the other N350 from the general public to enable the students write the regional body examinations this year.

According to her, the school risks a total delisting from all WAEC examinations if the money is not paid in few months.

“this is what I came to inherit here.. The major concern here is the future of these young and innocent students who will now have to trek very long distance to write WAEC and back.

“this is why I am calling on our politicians, business men and women and other Cross Riverians to come to our rescue and assist with the balance payment so we can be restored and not be delisted”

Mrs. Magdalene also said that the school is plagued with lack of portable drinking water as the only source of water in the school had since been broken down.
She made the statement at the school inter-house competition held at the school premises on Wednesday.

Odot Ediong Secondary Commercial school established in 1987, is one of the oldest secondary schools in remote area of the local council.
