The Cross River State All Progressive Congress governorship candidate, Sen. (Prince) Bassey Otu, has congratulated Mr. By Gil Nsa on his emergence as the Chairman of the state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) after a keenly contested election.
Sen. Otu in a statement by his media aide Bar. Ekpenyong Akiba also congratulated other members of the newly elected council, he described the outcome of the election as a reflection of the choice of journalists and media professionals across the different chapels in the state.
He noted that Nsa is a thorough-bred journalist, who has distinguished himself in the field of journalism, his outstanding and exemplary services have contributed to the growth of media professionalism in Nigeria; noting that he was confident that he would bring his wealth of experience to bear in the administration of the NUJ in the state.
Sen. Otu also congratulated other members of the newly elected council urging the new council to mobilise members of the union to meet their function of providing information, enlightenment, entertainment and surveillance to the larger society.
According to him, “The new council has a mandate, as always, to strengthen media professionalism, discourage sensationalism and war journalism, and embrace development or solution-driven journalism.”
Sen. Otu assured the council of his full support as the fourth estate of the realm
