Cross River State governorship hopeful, Sir Arthur Jarvis Archibong has met with the 18 chapter Chairmen of the People’s Democratic Party in the state.
Sir Jarvis who is also the chancellor of Arthur Jarvis University said the meeting was “to seek the partnership of the party leaders to create a better Cross River”
He called on the Chairmen to reflect deeply as the state prepares for the 2023 elections.
According to him “ it’s easy for us to relax with our bottles of beer in our own comfort zones, but what about our children, what will we leave for them? We thank God for the past 8 years which has opened our eyes to understand that we have a long way to go. These past 8 years is like a blessing in disguise for us.
How long shall we dwell in mediocrity? I want to tell us, come 2023 let’s do more of soul searching. Let us do some soul searching and ask ourselves some questions. Come 2023 all we should say is, let God’s will be done”
According to him ,”This State is resting under the water with the fishes. And we must do everything we can to restore and save our state”
Responding, the chapter Chairman of Obubra LGA and the Chairman of all Chairmen, Hon. Godwin Igwe said he was impressed with the achievements of Sir Jarvis and therefore have no doubt that if given the opportunity, he will do well.
He expressed delight at the reception, maintaining that he was the first person to host the Chairmen after their election and victory at the court over a year ago.
“Everywhere we go to we find people, women, men, telling us to please find a way and return to government because they are tired of what they are seeing now.
However, we have agreed that from now on, whoever will desire any political office must come before us and we are making arrangements to ensure that we engage them by way of debate to brief us of how they intend to make things better” he said.
Other Chairmen who spoke during the meeting included Chairmen of Calabar Municipality, Akamkpa, Etung and Ogoja extolled the sterling qualities of Sir Jarvis.
Recall that the politician had also met with ward Chairmen and stakeholders of the PDP in Calabar south and Calabar Municipality in continuation of his aspiration to occupy the government house come 2023.
