Super Eagles Terem Moffi donates Football, Cash To C’River Sports Ministry

It would be recalled that the Ogoja born football striker Terem Moffi who plays for a club in Europe and the Super Eagles of Nigeria had on Wednesday 29th may, 2024, paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Commissioner for sports development, Cross River State, Mrs. Agnes Atsu where he pledged to support the pelican stars football club with the sum of One Million (1,000,000) naira and twenty five footballs.

Terem Moffi who was accompanied by his father Mr. Leo Moffi to the office of the commissioner earlier today, made delivery of footballs and cash sum of One Million naira to the pelican stars and rovers football club of calabar as redemption of his pledge to support the development of young players and football in the state.

The commissioner who received the gift items in company of the permanent secretary, the SA sports development, staff of the ministry and chairman of pelican stars football club, expressed appreciation to Terem Moffi for delivering in his promise as what he has done is a show of integrity and love for the State where he comes from. Further said Terem’s performance is in line with the People’s First Mantra of Governor Prince Bassey Otu who is manifesting true democracy by offering swift and sustainable solutions to the challenges of his people “Cross Riverians” as part of the delivery of his campaign promises.

She disclosed that, Governor Bassey otu is very impressed with Terem Moffi and his father for their contributions to the State. Also she extoled Mr. Leo Moffi for giving Terem a descent upbringing as the discipline, good morals and industry Mr. Leo imbibed in his Son has led him this far to be an Icon not only to their family, but the entire Cross River State, making the State proud in the international world of football.

The special adviser on sports development to the Governor, Hon. Ekanem Ekpenyong lauded Terem Moffi for his hard work and skillful play out there at the field, said Terem is making Cross River proud and the state is so happy to have him while he appreciated him for redeeming his promise to the pelican stars football club as well as giving to rovers football club. Hon. Ekanem also enumerated the enviable achievements of the sports ministry since the inception of Governor Bassey Otu’s administration and called for support from Cross Riverians, sports organisations and sports lovers to partner with the ministry in promoting football and other sporting activities for the effusive delivery of Governor Bassey Otu’s vision to develop young Cross Riverians in the area of sports.

The permanent secretary – Mr. Samuel Egbala thanked Terem and his father for showcasing such level of magnanimity to young players and the ministry, as what they have done will forever be recorded in the annals of sports development in the state.

The Chairman of Pelican stars – Mr. Sam Kombo while receiving the footballs for pelican Stars Fc and Rovers Fc expressed immense gratitude to Terem Moffi for his support to the clubs, stressed that what the football striker has done marvels their hearts a lot because pelican stars has not received such support from any one for a long time as Terem’s benevolence will also boost the performance of the young players and contribute to football development in the State.

Finally the Commissioner, Mrs. Agnes Atsu prayed for Terem Moffi and his father, asking God to grant them continued blessings and replenish their pockets in a thousand fold, taking Terem higher in his career with safety from injury.

Present at the event was, the Honorable Commissioner for Sports development – Mrs Agnes Atsu, special adviser to the Governor on sports development – Hon. Ekanem Ekpenyong, Permanent secretary of the Ministry – Mr. Samuel Egbala, Chairman of Pelican stars fc – Mr. Sam Kombo and staff of the ministry of Sports development, Cross River State.

Highlight of the event was presentation of footballs and Cash by Terem Moffi to the Commissioner and her team, photography session and offering of compliments to the Cross River indigenous young soccer star.
