Unidentified occupants of an ash colour Toyota Camry car yesterday escaped death by the whiskers in Calabar south.
The occupants, a man and a female companion were said to have been rushing to meet an evening flight at the Margaret Ekpo International airport Calabar, when their vehicle summersaulted along new airport road in Calabar south.
According to an eye witness identified simply as Emmanuel, the occupants who were assisted out of the vehicle were unhurt.
Emmanuel said “the driver and a lady were on their way to the airport for an evening flight, and were on high speed at a bending corner that led to the sumasulting of the vehicle. The vehicle sumasulted several times but no life was lost in the incident.
“The car had Just two passengers. Our guys when driving with a lady in front they like to impress the lady that they can drive. If you are a driver you should know that if you are on a high speed on reaching a bending corner you slow down a bit till you pass the curve.” He explained.
Similarly, a middle aged man driving a red colour Toyota Camry rammed into a street light around the popular SPC junction along Murtala Mohammed highway Calabar, causing serious traffic delay for motorist later Sunday evening.
A police officer who was an eye witness told our reporter that the driver who said he was returning from a birthday party was drunk.
Although no live was lost, when our reporter visited the scene, the occupant of the vehicle was seen laying on the floor, while frantic effort was made to stabilize him.
