Chairman of Calabar municipality and Mayor of Calabar, Hon. Efeffiong Nta Eke has made cash donation to the family of slain Asuquo Umo who was kill by a trigger happy Airforce personnel in Calabar.
Before his untimely death, late Umo was a staff of the state traffic regulatory agency, working with the enforcement unit.
Late Asuquo is a father of six.
The Parchment had earlier reported how late Asuquo Umo was shot by irate Airforce personnel within the premises of the state cultural center which also houses the Anti cultism/kidnapping unit of the state police command.
Presenting the cash donation, the Mayor, Hon. Effefiong Eke prayed God to console the family and loved ones left behind, while promising to do more to give the late Umo a befitting burial.
However, the Nigerian Airforce have continued to maintain sordied silence more than two weeks after the ugly incident. One member of the family also told out reporter that the leadership of the Airforce in the state is yet to visit the family.
Efforts made by this paper to reach the spokesperson of the force in the state, Mr. Danjuma, proved abortive. When this paper called and requested to see him, he obliged. But immediately he realized our reporter was a journalist with The Parchment he decline picking repeated calls sent to his mobile phone. He also refused to reply a text message sent to him.
