The University of Calabar has banned the positions of class representatives in the institution.
The University Senate at its Special meeting held on Thursday, January 25, 2024 resolved to proscribe the position of Class Representatives.
The decision of the Senate which was conveyed in a memo signed by the University Registrar, Mr. Gabriel O. Egbe takes immediate effect.
According to the memo, the ban is due to some noticeable unwholesome activities of class representatives in the institution.
To this end, it direct that all class representatives are to take note of the directive as failure to do so may attract unpleasant consequences.
The memo further advised lecturers to henceforth deal directly with the students without any intermediary.
Provost, Deans of Faculties, Directors of Institutes and Heads of Departments were also enjoined to ensure strict compliance with the decision of the Senate.
