The University of Cross River State has declared two lecturers from the Department of Mechanical Engineering missing, days after embarking on a journey to Lagos State.
The statement signed by the University Registrar, Mr Victor Ene, dated June 3, 2025, the university regret the unexplained absence of absence of Engr. Emmanuel Odu and Engr. Ndifon Vincent, Lecturers in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of our University.
“According to reliable information at our disposal, the last time that anyone heard from them was in the evening of Friday, May 23, 2025. They reportedly went to buy a car in Lagos and were on their way from there to Calabar. According to reports, they got missing in Imo State.
“We assure their families and friends that we wholeheartedly empathize with them on this unfortunate development. We anxiously pray and hope for their safety and quick release.
“In the meantime, the Acting Vice Chancellor and members of our University’s Management team have been in constant communication on this matter with the Cross River State Commissioner of Police and the Cross River State Director of Department of State Security (DSS).
“The Acting Vice Chancellor and members of her Management team have been informed that the Commissioner of Police and the Director of Department of State Security are working closely with their counterparts in Imo State to find the missing Lecturers.
“They have also been informed that there is no report of a vehicle accident that may have involved the missing Lecturers. That information is useful. But the most useful information will be information that helps in finding the missing Lecturers alive and return them safely to their families and to us.
“Therefore, we appeal to any member of the public who may have useful information on their whereabouts to urgently contact relevant security agencies or the phone number in this flier.” The statement added
