Assistant Inspector General of Police, Usman Gomna has been announced as the new AIG incharge of the zone 6 headquarters in Calabar.
IGP Usman Baba made the announcement in a major shake-up aimed at repositioning the police force for optimum performance according to police authorities.
The Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba also approved the deployment of AIG Zaki Ahmed who was Incharge of the zone.
He will now head the Special Protection Unit at the force headquarters, Abuja.
Ahmed who was deployed to head the police zonal headquarters, Calabar in 2019, replaced AIG Musa Kimo.
The Kebbi born police officer has been widely appluded for being an epitome of modern day policing. He was the twenty-eight AIG of the Zone which had four states under it’s command, including Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ebonyi and Rivers State but now have only Akwa Ibom and Cross River State.
Although days after the announcement was made, Mr. Gonna is yet to resume in Calabar his new place of assignment. Sources within the police force say, the new AIG will resume as soon as handing over procedure is completed.
