The Zambia Women’s National Football Team, (She-polopolo) won their first ever continental title as they defeated Nigeria’s Super Falcons 1-0 in the third place match of the 2022 WAFCON on Friday.
Own Goal from Nigeria’s goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie in the 29th Minutes after Evarine Katongo effort was the only decider that gave Zambia the win at the Stade Mohammed V, Casablanca, Morocco.
Nigeria will leave the tournament as a Fourth Placed team after securing the 2023 FIFA World Cup ticket that will be host in Australia and New Zealand.
Other teams to represent Africa are South Africa, Morocco, Zambia and one other team after a playoff to complete the African slot for the tournament.
