The Vice Chairman central of National youth council of Nigeria(NYCN), Cross River State Chapter, Engr. Nchu Sunnyskipo Otu has charged the young people of the state to get serious with their lives, be productive at all times and conform themselves to appropriate and legitimate means of wealth creation through acquiring skills, being Innovative and establishing businesses that will enable them contribute to developing the society instead of waiting for Government to meet their needs. 

Speaking to journalists on friday, 2nd February 2024, Engr. Sunnyskipo who chaired the recently concluded security town hall meeting organized by the NYCN at the central senatorial district of Cross River, stated that security is a very essential aspect that needs to be taken care of for the development of every society, which is why the leadership of the Nycn organized the town hall meeting to congregate stakeholders, security agencies, Government officials and youths of the central on a round table to formulate and adopt proactive measures required to combat the high level of insecurity faced in Cross River Central. He disclosed that, the leadership of NYCN in Cross River State is already working on a communique that is contained with modalities that will aid them combat incessant security challenges in the state and believes the communique will enable them subdue insecurity in Cross River State.

Going further, the youth leader called on Government to play a critical role in the eradication of insecurity through mobilizing security agencies with the needed apparatus for their effective operations and also effecting policies that will empower the youths with employment opportunities, skill acquisition programme’s, business grants and loans as well as reduce taxation for small and medium scale business owners which will go a long way to keep everybody busy and reduce crime rate in the society. He also admonished the youths to abstain from crime related activities such as intake of hard drugs, fraud, prostitution, riots, robbery and pick pocketing but rather collaborate to secure both individual and Government properties in their domain.

He concluded that the leadership of the Nycn under Comrade Dan Obo Jnr as State Chairman has been partnering with all stakeholders of the council and Government officials to passionately contribute to Government’s efforts of achieving a peaceful, prosperous and secured Cross River State, and as Nycn Vice Chairman Central, he is pleased with the ongoing partnership between the youth body and the present Government of His Excellency Senator Prince Bassey Otu who is manifesting sensitive Governance that is immensely beneficial to every one in Cross River State.
