In a surprising development, Engr. Asu Abang, a prominent aspirant for the Boki Local Government Area Chairman and leader of the Wanboneh Support Group, has officially switched allegiance from the PDP to the APC in Cross River State.

The event which took place at his council ward “Abo” in Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State on Saturday, 27th, January-2024, recorded a mass defection of his supporters who also have joined him as their leader to continue their political endeavor’s in the APC.

In his acceptance speech, Abang expressed gratitude, acknowledging the support of Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, Sen. Eteng Williams Jones, Hon. Peter Bette Obi, Member of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Ewa, Commissioner for Tourism, Arts & Culture, and other esteemed APC members for warmly welcoming him into the party.

Emphasizing his commitment to the APC’s vision, Abang anticipates a collaborative effort with party members to advance the community’s future and Cross River State at large, while commending Governor Otu for his pragmatic leadership that has brought about transcendent development to the state within his few months of leadership as Governor.

He concluded by expressing readiness to serve, calling for continued unity, progress, inclusivity, and the improvement of constituents’ lives. This defection signifies a significant shift in political dynamics within Cross River State.
